Keratoconus changes the shape of the cornea and can cause blurred or distorted vision. Care may include monitoring, glasses, specialty contact lenses, corneal cross-linking evaluation, or surgery in advanced cases
When it may be considered
- Increasing astigmatism or frequent prescription changes
- Distorted vision that is not fully corrected with glasses
- Family history or previous diagnosis of keratoconus
Visit notes
- Corneal topography or tomography is important for diagnosis and monitoring
- Early detection helps protect vision and guide treatment timing
